ELTERWATER COLOUR STORY
Inspired by the Landscapes surrounding Elterwater and the Langdales Kate Painted and sketched on site before bringing her findings back to the studio and developing them into the painting. Rich with layers of green and blue, this painting expresses the love Kate has for this area in the Lake District. Having spent time here from a very young age, her memories of this landscape goes deeper than the dales and rivers. Each footpath becomes a story which she has portrayed within this piece, the marks created are connected to the tactile patterns of the indigenous materials while the colour encompasses the vibrant earthy tones so often brought to life by the downfall of rain. Yes, rain! It creates a wash of life that Kate so often finds calming yet full of possibilities.
