Kate Morrison, an artist and textile designer from the Lake District, now based in London, explores the overlooked details of everyday life through her vibrant paintings.

'I uncover the treasures we all regularly walk by and disregard - architectural details, the texture in paths and landscapes - and I trace my journeys, mapping my response in paint, collage and assemblages.'

Creating mixed media and large-scale paintings, Kate plays with scale, harnessing different details through each viewpoint and canvas she paints, employing micro and macro detail.

Combining her painting and textile design practice, Kate reshapes ideas of home aesthetics in her design work and products to create unique surroundings.

With a background in textiles, she also specialises in weave and print design. With her first-class degree from the Manchester School of Art, Kate has worked with Missoni HOME and London-based interior ateliers. She has created her own lines of silk art scarves and linen accessories under the KMKM label.

In recognition of her textile design and colouring, Kate's work won Homes & Gardens' 2023 Best Woven Fabric for a high-end West London interior atelier's latest fabric collection.

Now at the renowned Newlyn School of Art, Kate is growing her art practice in her new East London studio, creating a collection of abstract paintings. New works are on display at Chapel House in Penzance, Cornwall, with a larger show set for Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, Cornwall, in June 2024.
